Katja Levy

Co-investigator

Katja Levy is a research fellow at the Manchester China Institute, University of Manchester, UK. Trained in Political Science and China Studies, she previously held posts as lecturer and junior professor in Chinese Politics at the Free University Berlin, Technical University Berlin, University of Würzburg and University of Bochum, Germany. She has conducted research projects on China’s foreign policy and China’s state-society relations. She is the co-author of Charity with Chinese Characteristics - Chinese Charitable Foundations Between the Party-state and Society (2020, Edward Elgar) and co-editor of Still a Century of Corporatism? Models of State–Society Cooperation in China and Germany (to be published in April 2021, Nomos). Her current research project is on Volunteering in the UK and in China. She is particularly interested in the social capital-related aspects of the COVID & STUDENTS: SAFETY & COMM project.
