COVID and Chinese and East Asian University Students in the UK:
Safety, Security, and Communication

Home: Welcome

In the first months of the COVID outbreak, there was a marked increase (21%) in hate crimes against East Asian communities, particularly Chinese people, in the UK. It has now been a year since the UK entered COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. This study aims to review the experiences of UK university students of Chinese/East Asian appearance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

How are their experiences during the pandemic?

Did they experience any kind of racism? How did they cope with it?

Who they shared their stories with and how?
